The Indigenous Law Centre (ILC) is asking for community support to continue its important work.
The ILC is a not-for-profit research institution that receives in-kind support from the UNSW Law School in the form of office space, equipment and the voluntary contributions of academic staff. Until now, funding from the Australian Government has paid the wages of ILC staff members, journal publication expenses and the costs of holding events such as Open Forums.
Our funding from the Federal Attorney General's Department was not renewed in the 2014-15 financial year.
If you are interested in assisting the ILC, some of the ways in which you can show your support include:
E-mailing a testimonial as to why you believe it is important that the journals continue. E-mails can be sent to the ILB Editor at: ilb@unsw.edu.au
Writing to your local; state and/or federal member about the important work of the ILC
Writing to the Federal Attorney General George Brandis QC and/or Minister for Indigenous Affairs Nigel Scullion.
All donations made to the ILC will go towards funding the publication of valuable community legal education and research though its journals, the ILB and AILR—the only dedicated Indigenous law journals in Australia. Funds will also help the Centre to publish factual and easy to understand information on Indigenous legal issues through research briefs, posters, open forums and other events.
Donations of $2 or more to the ILC via UNSW are tax-deductible in Australia and will go towards helping the centre to meet its goal of advancing Indigenous peoples access to knowledge and social justice in Australia and internationally.
