Jacob Nash

Jacob Nash is the Head of Design for Bangarra Dance Theatre.

'During my time at Bangarra, I have not only designed many of their recent productions, but have also travelled extensively with the company. As we share our stories with audiences around the world, I always carry a camera with me, from the remote salt and fresh water country of North East Arnhem Land to the big city lights of New York City. My friendships with Bangarra’s Artistic Director Stephen Page and the dancers have allowed me to capture many moments that the rest of the world doesn’t get to see. 

'We are a tight urban clan and some of my favourite moments over the past six years have been with Stephen and the dancers as they prepare backstage and then come off stage from a performance. The ritual and energy of these moments is a wonderful thing to observe. When shooting, I try and remain still and capture the moment without too much interference and influence.
