Badu Art Centre and Art Mob
The spectacular and inspiring pieces of artwork featured throughout this edition of the Indigenous Law Bulletin are courtesy of Euan Hills of Hobart. Euan, through his Aboriginal fine art venture Art Mob, loves helping people discover a whole new and exciting world of fine art, they have works from all over Australia and are constantly growing in their Appreciation of aboriginal fine art.
For over a decade Art Mob's exhibitions and collections have introduced established and emerging artists to new and appreciative audiences. resulting in many works finding homes in institutional collections, as well as world-class private collections. For this edition, Euan was generous enough to pass onto us a few examples of work in Art Mob's collection from the Badu Island Art Centre.
Reflecting their strong cultural traditions and their beautiful relationships with our world, Badu Island Art Centre carefully expresses their love and dedication to the ocean, to their Island and all of its creatures and animals. their art illustrates their relationships with the wind, rain, the skies, stars and the sun.
Reflecting their strong cultural traditions, language and links to the sea, Badu artists are producing works using a range of media including printmaking, etching, jewellery, textiles and carving. their 'Badu Island Art' brand is registered and features on all of their quality garments and wearable art. Badu also is the home of the only Indigenous-owned bronze casting foundry in Australia.
